The title of this blog takes its inspiration from a famous quote by Pontius Pilate. When Jesus declared that “everyone who is of the truth hears My voice”, Pilate remarkably responded: “What is truth?” I believe this interaction between the king of heaven and the Roman governor is a prophetic one for our culture and generation. Pilate, the Roman Prefect, was a man of greater culture than those he governed over. The Jews were, by comparison, a narrow-minded ignorant people and he a man of worldly experience and knowledge.
Simply put, so are we today. In our cosmopolitan culture we have access to a wide range of supposed “truths” and it’s hard to know who or what to believe. Moreover, our media, education, and government have become dominated by a culture of political correctness that has robbed it of it’s ability to discern and declare the Truth. I’ll do my best to explain why in 1 paragraph:
When there is no agreed-upon code of ethics in a culture, when there is no moral compass, right and wrong become determined by whoever is the most offended by an action. If there is no God-given standard of right and wrong, then right is whatever pleases the most people and wrong is whatever displeases the most. Inevitably those who are most offended become the “loudest” so to speak and your culture’s morality becomes dominated by the easily offended and those with the most immature character.
In this reality I have become convicted that is important for there to be a voice for truth. If those who know the truth do not declare it then the lies will prevail by default. By this I’m not saying that all Christians must become “loud” in general, but I am saying they need to become “loud” in those areas in which they feel they have received a real revelation of truth from the Lord. And simply put there is a spirit of intimidation that is on the Church in America. There’s a spirit that accuses us of being ignorant, fanatical, backwards, bigoted, archaic, etc. And that spirit is currently the dominating one in the media and education system.
Therefore the aim of this blog is to declare the truth. I will try not to speak strongly on things I don’t feel I have true understanding on, but I will try to tackle difficult topics that are real and large in our culture. That being said let me declare to the world wide web today that there is a Truth. He is Jesus and wherever He is honored there is blessing and wherever what He says is believed and acted upon there is freedom, joy and peace.
